April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals at multiple Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to claim her third Olympic medal alongside first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross wants to achieve more than her initial Olympic medal. As she is 39 she could have her last shot. However, she is certain of taking top honors. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best and even play well and they are able to play well, the team could win a gold medal. Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. Ross went on to play in numerous sports at Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler she played the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and track. Though she excelled in indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her performance was above average. As per her biography in high school, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setting (outside blocker). The results of her efforts were acknowledged in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do from 2017. The reality is that Ross played a significant role on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. In actual, Ross has won several major tournaments in her career together with two other partners. One is a volleyball legend. Ross teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's personal trainer. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 as a team. The duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary duo comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. Together, they took home beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. This was an impressive career for Ross in the university. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she earned Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year honors and earned an All-American. She also helped the Trojans reach into the Final Four. During her sophomore year she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to be a second All-American. Through her last two years in the program she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain winning consecutive national championships. The achievements of each individual have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the top female NCAA player. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross was not able to witness Ross reach beach volleyball's highest levels. When Ross was a sophomore in USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. Her mother is still close to her heart. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the beach.
