Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She is a co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer and philanthropist as well as a television host and the owner of the independent free online news publication The Huffington Post. Following her move to England from Greece at 16 She earned an MA with Economics from Cambridge University. First foreign-born graduate to serve as president in the prestigious debate club The Cambridge Union, at 21, she was able to take over the position. After graduation she made her name as a conservative syndicated columnist as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice platform that provided critical views on the political scenario. She was able to get numerous prominent contributors to post their views regarding politics and culture. Arianna's celebrity status was first noticed in 2003 when she declared herself an independent candidate in the California recall vote to replace then-Governor Davis. She also headed the Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes placed her at 12 on their list of the Top Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the AOL media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli, who are both journalist and management consultants. Though she shared a close relationship with both of her parents but it was their connection that helped shape her. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. At 16 years of age she emigrated back to United Kingdom to pursue her study and then enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. In college, she was a member of the Cambridge Union, a college debate club. Being the third woman president and the first foreigner she served as the head of Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with a degree in Economics. In the years following after graduation she worked as an editor of the critic's column and a television host. In addition, she appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with his editing assistance.
