Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a poverty-stricken family which would later comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of living through her vibrant and broad imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she learned to write or read. At the age of 8, she got her first electric guitar and started singing at a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. As a student in high school, she made her name locally but dreamed about a larger stage. After graduating the high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) as well as Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers for his show that was syndicated in the years prior to this. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after signing to RCA Records. It was not until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her solo albums including Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. The song by Parton, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), reached the number. #1 spot following their broke up. The first time it reached number 1 was in 1974.
